Trailer-palooza

I just finished making YouTubable book trailers for my backlist. (All part of a major rehaul of StudioJJK.com, more on that soon!)

They will all soon be neatly organized on my website, but in the meantime, you can catch all of my trailers at YouTube.com/StudioJJK.

best present ever

This Sunday, my first book turns ten years old. HappyBirthdayAuthor.com unknowingly has given me the most amazing anniversary present ever. Check out "The JJK Reading Experience".

And check out the awesome postcards sent from Mrs. VanRaepenbusch's 2nd graders. They made 50 postcards for me in honor of the postcards I sent to publishers when I was trying to break into publishing. (This is a part of the author study found in the above link.)

Slug in InStyle

"They're saying orange is the new black."
--Slug

My Buddy, Slug is in the December issue of InStyle magazine. Truth is, I have no business being in a style magazine. (My wife dresses me.) But Rachel Bilson, of O.C. fame, lists Slug as one of her staples in children's book gift giving.

It's a love-hate relationship

Regardless of which side of the aisle you stand on, you have to admit that this is a funny picture.

Apparently slugs are revered and loathed in Washington State.

Jacqueline Schimmel and posted to Facebook.)

and now Slug with an important message...

Librarian D'Etta Broam of Lexington, SC shared this great picture with me. Mrs. Mahoney's 3rd graders used Slug as their inspiration for their "Red Ribbon Week" door.

Very, very cool. And I couldn't agree more!

Slug drawing by kid

This great rendition of Alex and Slug was created by a 2nd grader from Long Island.

If you have any drawings, I would love to see them. They can be

Parade o' Slugs

This picture just came in from a Kindergarten class in Boston. They chose Slug to be their theme for their school's character parade.

How cool is this?! Big ups to all my slugs...

Slug Van!

Last spring, ReadBoston was given a grant to buy a new Storymobile. And get this - they decided that the van should be decorated with Slug! How cool is that?!

If you're around Beantown, keep your eyes on the lookout for it!

Let's hope that the Slug van doesn't park anywhere near Fenway Park this week. It's going to be nuts! Though, I hear there should be plenty of parking spaces around Jacobs Field.....

ETC's Author of the Month

Check out Embracing the Child's website to read a nifty interview they conducted with me.

And while you are on their site, read up on all of the cool things that ETC is doing to give books to much needed young readers! After you are done reading up on this amazing program, check out the archive of authors interviews on their site.

Thanks ETC!
